Shampoo Bar

$10.00

This all natural shampoo bar is soap for the hair made with a unique combination of oils for an all natural alternative to conventional shampoo. It has a rich, creamy lather that will thoroughly clean your hair, leaving it nourished and refreshed, without drying it out or weighing it down. This is not a syndet (synthetic detergent) shampoo bar. This is a soap created especially for the cleansing of the hair.

If you are switching to a shampoo soap for the first time (from using conventional shampoo or a syndet bar), there is a transition period that your hair may need to go through before any buildup from silicones and synthetic ingredients has been washed away. It may take some time (sometimes up to two months, depending on how often you wash your hair) to get used to a shampoo soap. Once your hair has gotten used to this new way of washing, you will love how it feels and looks. You can assist the process by rinsing your hair after each wash with 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar or white vinegar mixed with 2 cups of warm water. Massage the vinegar rinse into your hair, leave it for a minute or two, then thoroughly wash it out followed with a final rinse of cold water to seal the hair shaft. You can also use lemon juice in place of vinegar to rinse your hair.*

Also, hard water will affect the transition duration and the feel of your hair after using shampoo soap. Minerals in the hard water bind to your hair, making it feel waxy. The vinegar rinse will help with this. If you're having a hard time going through the transition and you just don't like how your hair feels or looks, you can "cheat" once in a while and use your liquid shampoo, but don't do this too often, as you want your hair to transition as quickly as possible. Once you've gone through the process, you may or may not need to continue using a vinegar rinse after each shampoo. If you have hard water, I recommend continuing to use the vinegar rinse after the transition, but you can reduce the amount of vinegar to 1 Tbsp in two cups of water.

*If your hair is chemically colored, a vinegar rinse properly diluted should not affect the hair color. I have successfully used a vinegar rinse on my chemically treated hair. Please use your own judgment when deciding to use a vinegar rinse, or you can try it at a weaker dilution of 1 Tbsp vinegar to 3 - 4 cups of water.

Follow your hair wash with conditioner. Check out the listing for my Solid Conditioner that will leave your hear feeling soft and manageable.

"Just wanted you to know I used the shampoo and conditioner bars for the first time last night and I was so surprised by the lather and how soft my hair was, too. I've tried others in the past, but they weren't as good."
