Purslane Hand and Body Soap
Purslane is a common "weed" or wild plant you may have seen growing in your backyard garden. This beneficial plant is edible and contains greater amounts of Omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamin C and beta carotene, and Vitamin E than spinach. Purslane also contains antioxidants in the coloring of the stems and leaves which have antimutagenic properties that are essential in protecting our skin cells. It helps to reduce inflammation and stimulate detoxification, which makes it a winner in soap.
Purslane soap was made with organic purslane grown in my garden. The leaves and stems were made into a slurry that went directly into the soap. The green coloring is naturally derived from the plant and made stable with Alfalfa Powder and French Green Clay, which has additional detoxifying properties. This soap is wonderful on irritated skin, sunburns, and skin afflicted with acne. Scented with Eucalyptus and Peppermint essential oils. Eucalyptus also has anti-inflammatory and pain relief properties.
